Baubali vs Soldier Boxer Match

During the highly anticipated match at Bukom Boxing Arena, chaos ensued between Ernest Akushey, known as ‘Baubali,’ and Elvis Ahorgah, also referred to as ‘Soldier Boxer.’

The bout, which was set to crown the National Super Middleweight champion, was unexpectedly cut short due to a controversy involving boxing gloves.

This boxing event, the first held by Ayitey Powers Productions on June 29, 2024, saw a sold-out arena with fans eager to witness the showdown after weeks of trash talk between the fighters.

The bout commenced with a thrilling exchange of punches, captivating the audience. Soldier Boxer took an early lead with a powerful performance. Baubali, however, demonstrated endurance, taking hits without giving in.

As the fight advanced into the fifth round, signs of weariness were noticeable, yet the prospect of a full 12-round bout kept the crowd engaged.

The sixth round brought unexpected confusion when referee Roger Bannor identified a defect in Baubali’s gloves.

The veteran referee promptly stopped the match and notified the ringside official and the Ghana Boxing Authorities. Following a swift inspection, Baubali’s team was instructed to replace the gloves in line with international boxing standards.

This ruling took Soldier Boxer’s team by surprise, prompting suspicions of foul play and a demand for clarification. Unsatisfied with the explanation, Soldier Boxer’s team entered the ring in protest, escalating tensions.

The confusion lasted for nearly 20 minutes as security attempted to manage the situation, but fans began to leave, hurling objects into the ring.

Ultimately, referee Roger Bannor left the ring, leaving both boxers with no choice but to abandon the fight.
