To reward deserving students who put in their best efforts, a wide range of Boston University undergraduate scholarships are offered. Most awards are granted for academic achievement, although others are given to brilliant artists, sportsmen, and performers. Additionally, you are not required to apply for financial aid or repay merit-based grants.

Boston University is a private research university located in Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States. Before being chartered in Boston in 1869, BU was founded in 1839 by a group of Boston Methodists, with its first location in Newbury, Vermont. The institution has over 4,000 academic staff members and about 34,000 students enrolled.
Through 17 schools and colleges across three city locations, it offers bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and diploma degrees in medicine, dentistry, commerce, and law.

Boston University Undergraduate Scholarships

Numerous merit scholarships are available at Boston University, with some even covering the entire cost of tuition. Scholarships are available to US citizens, permanent residents, qualifying non-citizens, and international students across all undergraduate fields.

Administration Scholarship from Boston University

The Trustee Scholarship is BU’s most prestigious scholarship. Fellows join a distinctive academic community that provides opportunities for intellectual, cultural, and social development. Competitive candidates who are at the top of their class and demonstrate exemplary commitment to their school and community are encouraged to apply.

The Trustee Scholarship is open to all students, including foreign nationals, U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other eligible non-citizens. If certain conditions are met, a Trustee Scholarship may be extended for four years, and full tuition and fees will be paid, as well as the required student fees.

The Presidential Scholarship

The Presidential Scholarship is awarded annually by the admissions committee to our incoming freshmen who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement. Presidential Scholars are among our most academically brilliant students, but they also go above and beyond the call of duty to lead their schools and communities. This $25,000 tuition grant allows you to finish up to four years of undergraduate studies at BU.

Summary of the Presidential Scholarship

How to Apply

No other application documents, essays, or forms are required. Students desiring to be eligible for the Presidential Scholarship must submit their application along with all supporting documents by December 1st.

National Merit Scholarship

Boston University will select high school students as National Merit Finalists and admit them as freshmen for a four-year, $25,000 presidential scholarship.

The four-year, $25,000 BU Presidential Scholarship is given to students with very good academic performance recognized by the College Board’s National Recognition Programs.

Summary of the National Merit Scholarship

College of Engineering FIRST Robotics Scholarship
Students who have participated in at least one full high school season in FIRST Robotics and have applied and been accepted into the College of Engineering are eligible for this four-year, $25,000 tuition scholarship. During the first two years of their studies, FIRST Scholars also receive funding to participate in a research program with a College of Engineering faculty member for up to 10 hours per week for one semester.
